December Daybook

Outside my window...
The clouds from yesterdays heavy rainstorms are breaking up.  Sister Sun may show her face today; she was quite reluctant yesterday.  It's cold though, compared to yesterday's foggy warmth.

I am thinking...

about my busy week and juggling all the activities and appointments and school pick-ups.

Lord, please get me through the next 3 weeks!

I am thankful for...

feeling so well these days.  I'm getting a little tired of taking so many supplements, but they're really working.  My mood is so much better.  I'm not half-dead when I get up in the morning or overwhelmed by the day ahead.  And I have sufficient energy to get through my day without crashing at the end, or multiple times during the day.

From the  learning rooms kitchen table...

The next few weeks will be simply crazy and we'll be lucky to maintain any sort of school routine since Meg and Pip have 4 performances per week for the next 3 weeks, starting today.  They'll have to be at the theater by 10 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and they'll be done by noon.  Now, since we get home from driving Tom to school at 8 a.m., that gives us less than 2 hours to get any work done.

Now, being in a theater production is obviously educational, but it does take out a lot of time for book work! It's not very likely that by the time we get home and have lunch we'll have any energy to hit the books again.  But we'll see.

From the kitchen...

Two "Premieres" this week from Twelve Months of Monastery Soups:  Mushroom Soup and St. Nicholas Soup.  I've been dying to make mushroom soup for some reason, although I'd never eaten it in my life!  It was yummy, though not a very attractive color. Next time I'll try it with baby bella 'shrooms instead of plain white; it really just tasted like potato soup.

St. Nicholas was premiered last night on account of all the rain.  That is a Very Vegetably Soup!  Carrots, turnips, potatoes, leeks, and cabbage!  Meh.  It was okay.  There is a lot of it left to eat and I'm not sure I'm willing to eat all of it.  I might have to doctor it up a bit.

I am wearing...

A Cozy, warm, black, Pendleton merino wool mock turtleneck (wow, that's a lot of adjectives!)that I got from Goodwill!  It's gorgeous, and I love it, but I'll bet the little bit of itchiness around the neck is the reason this like-new sweater was sent there!

I am creating...
Working my way through a second sock! And Saint Dolls!  And another scarf!  My birthday sweater!  And Christmas ornaments!

In other words....
A MESS.

I am going...
Crazy with projects I must finish and projects I just want to do for fun!

I am reading...
St. Francis de Sales'Introduction to the Devout Life. Slowly.
And Ten Prayers God Always Says Yes To.  A little less slowly, but not much.

I am hoping and praying...
for healing for lots of people with cancer, especially this little boy.

And for this family whose 7th child was just born with Trisomy 13, and who passed away after only 13 days.

And for that baby's uncle, Fr. Kevin Peek, who became an Army Chaplain a few years ago and just recently was re-deployed.

I am hearing...
The sounds of children rising who should have been up a while ago, but I let them sleep so they'd be fresh for their Premiere today.

And in the interest of Keeping it Real:  So I could post this.

Around the house...
I'll try to squeeze in some laundry and cooking (sigh) between engagements.

One of my favorite things...
Being In Control  Charge so I can cancel meetings because I'm too busy!

few plans for the rest of the week...
Driving, Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama, Eye doctors, Post office, and other stuff I don't care to think about.

It's also time to put together Christmas packages for extended family, to be delivered at Thanksgiving!
Time to finish those Christmas packages that had to be abandoned in favor of maintaining my sanity and Family Harmony before leaving for our Thanksgiving trip!

A Picture Thought...
Meg, in her hand knit Watermelon Dress!
