What's Up?

It's Wednesday and I can't think of a thing to say!  Ha!  This might be a good time for a Wordless Wednesday post.

But I'm way too chatty for that.

I'll just tell you that it's been American Heritage Girls all the time around here.  Copies, piles of copies, getting signatures, getting stuff in the mail, training leaders, training more leaders....

I'm happy to say that yesterday we trained our last 2 leaders!  Not at the same time, mind you.  We had to do the training twice, partly because of scheduling issues and partly because they're at different levels.  Not that the training is all that different....but...nevermind....  don't want to follow that train of thought to its frustrating conclusion!

It's done.

At least until we arm-wrestle ask another mom to be a leader.

So, after all that, today promises to be an "easy" day.  Or, at least a normal day where I know what to expect:  school, laundry, school, laundry, piano, library, and then (oh, bliss, oh joy) choir rehearsal. It's better than knitting.  (Although what raptures would I be in if I could sing and knit at the same time?!)

Tomorrow is our American Heritage Girls meeting, but I won't think about that now.  I'll think about that tomorrow!

Do you know what else tomorrow is?  It's the feast of  St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, and my Name Day.  I love my sweet friend who helped bring me into the Catholic Church, and who knows that I'd be lost without her Little Way to guide me, since I'm not capable of big things---like sticking to her Novena for a 9 days during a busy week.

Wacky Wednesday

Life is totally wacky these days. We are constantly running in and out of the house for swim team, work, shopping, chiropractor, playing with friends, etc.

I hardly know whether I'm coming or going, and every time someone leaves the house they leave a mess behind!

Today after I drop off the Little Princess at swim team, I'm driving over to visit our community garden. I'm not looking forward to it since KT said that my squashes had all developed a fungus over the weekend. That makes me so sad. I'll see today and, I hope, find out what I can/should do about it. This is the first time I've had a chance to drive over there this week.

One nice thing is that KT and Brendan are able to make the drive to The School to pick up Madden from football practice 3 days a week. Since they are hardly, or not at all, working. I'm trying to keep them busy around the house, but I don't even seem to be able to get my act together enough to do that. Is there such a thing as "Summer Brain" ???

After piano today it has turned out to be a quiet afternoon. Not greatly productive, mind you, but quiet and peaceful! I got my rosary in today on my way to and from the garden, so that probably helped a lot!

I was actually quite pleased with my garden visit this morning. The weather was lovely and cool and the plants didn't look as bad as I feared. In fact, I harvested a perfect zucchini (thank you, Spell Check!), a yellow squash, a couple of jalapenos, and a little lettuce. The worst thing there was an out of control spaghetti squash (They're evil I tell you! But delicious!) that was strangling a red pepper plant and had it down to the ground. It felt very creepy to pry its tendrils from around the pepper's neck! I relocated the pepper and trained the adventurous vine to go up the tomato cage! So I still have hope for my little garden.

What a Wednesday!

Is it really Wednesday? I'm so off-balance, I have no idea. It all started last week with missing Wednesday. I have no idea where it went and I didn't catch up until Sunday, cuz that was my birthday. Hard to forget turning 44. But the brain quickly lost track again!

Maybe that's why I prefer the school year---I have the different daily activities, like piano lessons or football games, that keep me firmly anchored to the appropriate day of the week.

Oh, and there are 2 posts today---scroll on down when you're done with this one. The Jane Austen post was supposed to appear on the 8th, but I had scheduled it for 2009. Sheesh.

What's Going on Today?

• First piano lesson of the school year for TMax!
• First non-piano lesson of the year for Pipster. He quit in a huge display of tears after his cast came off.
• Football practice for Hitch and Madden, which means
• Seriously complex carpooling maneuvers to get them to school and TMax to piano.
• After piano is over, I can just relax and turn my van over to KT so she can drive alll the waaay to Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater for a concert tonight. Alone. Jack Johnson, anyone? She is meeting a friend there, one who lives on the opposite side of Atlanta, so no carpooling.

What I'm excited about:

I got my very first bloggy award from my friend Kalynne at The Philosopher-Mom. Now, let's see if I'm clever enough to figure out how to post the darn thing---I mean, "this wonderful award."

• Pretty much everything.
• Calendar filling up to a scary degree.

• Co-op starting in 3 weeks.
• Being the lead teacher for the 7th grade and up Boys.
• Did I mention Co-op?

What I'm working on:

• Remember the photo albums? 20 years worth of photos are still on my dining room table and they need to be put away by Labor Day weekend when Mil & Fil come to visit.
• Redecorating my bedroom, on a shoestring, in a way that will make me smile when I walk in. That involves repainting my mother's Ethan Allen furniture white. A huge job. But she would totally approve since she hated it and she had painted the matching hutch white years ago. She loved painting things white!

What I'm looking forward to:

• Watching more Olympics
• Listening to 17 hours of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on CD because Pipster hasn't read it yet. It really makes driving places bearable!
• Best of all----Choir rehearsals start again next week!!! And I get to be in the "quartet" this year that sings gorgeous music once a month!
