Watermelon Dress finished!

I started this dress when we went to the beach back in June.  I wanted something that would be pretty easy to knit and not require too much thought while knitting on the beach.

I don't think I ever did any knitting on the beach.  It was too blamed hot!

I also took it with me to Friday trivia nights, since I could work on it with little thought and concentrate on answering those trivia questions!

And you know I've been working on it in the car at stop lights, which is where I made the most progress.  It's amazing how many times I have to stop around here, and how those 2-3 stitches each time add up!

That gorgeous lace at the bottom, however, was NOT done at stoplights.  I ripped it out so many times I lost count.  It was so frustrating.  Simple, yes, but a single mistake could ruin the whole thing and those mistakes were very difficult to figure out without ripping out entire rows!!  Grrr.

Since I was sick on Friday and Saturday with this awful headcold that everyone is getting, I didn't feel like doing anything.  You know, one of those where you just want to lie down all day?  Not the kind of cold where you can keep going.  Ick.

Anyway, I took the opportunity to knit all day, determined to finish the lace!  I finished it Saturday morning!  Yay!

I need a pic of the Little Princess wearing it, but it's too short for her!  It comes above her knees.    I'm debating how it will look with legging under it.  Or I may give it away.

It's adorable, though.  And while I decide, I can work on Pip's sweater.  I accomplished a lot on that one on Saturday, too!  I'm almost done with the second sleeve, and then I can finish the body.

He's so excited.

  1. Wow! You have been busy. If the dress fits, except for the length, maybe you can find some tight peddle pushers (you know -- knee length). I guess the challenge will be finding the right color.

I've been meaning to email you to see what's up. I guess now I know. ;-)

  3. The dress is beautiful! I think it will look great with leggins or even jean as sort of a tunic top.

  5. Thanks, everyone! I've got to get her to put it on with her leggings to see how it looks. Pedal pushers would be cute, but as it is a heavy, knit dress, it will be for cold days. I'm pretty sure she won't wear it when it's at all warm!
