Our AHG Service Project

The big service project our troop is working on this year has attracted a lot of attention around the parish---mainly because it's so unusual.  One of our parishioners who is a news reporter saw me working on my sleeping mat for a homeless person and offered to do a little piece on it.  It's the kind of feel-good news they show during Christmastime to fill airspace.

I thought you might like to see it; it hasn't even aired on television yet.  We're extremely excited about it!  I'm in it; you can see bits of Meg, and Pip was even there helping out. (He's the lone boy in the video.)  Meg was doing the rolling and unrolling and tying demonstrations.

We spent almost 2 hours working, filming, and interviewing for this 90 second spot!  It was a great opportunity to get some more work done on the project.  The kids had a lot of fun and it was interesting seeing a glimpse of what goes into the news.  I enjoyed it, too.  But frankly, I'm just glad they cut out all the um's and made us look good!

Here's a link to my friend Eren's followup blog post with a tutorial.  She's the one in the video talking about how the girls like to compete to see who can make a bigger ball of plarn.

You may now return to your regular Christmas preparations!  :-)
