What Are You Reading?

Someone asked me that last week, I think, and I said that I wasn't in the midst of reading anything. I think that's because the last couple of books I read were so great that I whizzed through them in just a couple of days!

I tend to do that---if a book grabs my attention, I won't let go of it. I take it everywhere with me and read constantly. Every. Spare. Minute. Sitting at the kitchen table while the kids do their work? I'm reading. In the car at a stoplight? I'm reading. Brushing my teeth? I'm reading.

The last one I read had a little "wrinkle," so to speak.

It is out of print.

Thanks to Melissa and her passionate description of Jane of Lantern Hill, I had to read it on my computer or my ipod touch. It's available here on the Gutenberg Project website.

I was thrilled to be able to read it on my ipod---as long as I was in the house, I could carry it with me and read constantly. I could even read in my bed while the Master of the World was sleeping! It's much easier to read that way than with a real book!

Oh, if you love Anne of Green Gables, you have to read this book. Jane is another charming, sympathetic character with lots of spirit, and she comes to life on Prince Edward Island. I'm thinking I might come to life, too, if I had a little cottage on P.E.I. with a view of the harbor.

Now, I'm going to have to find all the rest of Montgomery's out of print novels and read them online.

Very soon now, I expect to be re-immersing myself in Deep Valley, the world of Betsy-Tacy, when our new books arrive. I only ordered the high school books, but I'll have to continue on with the 2 post high school books, too. You just can't stop in the middle!

  2. LOL, MightyMom! They do keep me away from my bedside books! And they're non-fiction, too, usually.
