What He Said

{pretty}
My little princess in her medieval princess dress for the Father/Daughter dance.

{happy}
Happy to be going out with her favorite guy in a pretty dress.

{funny}
Or should it be {real} that you can see the collar facing sticking out in all the pictures?  The hem tape didn't hold and I was just over that dress!  It was a total nightmare from beginning to end.  Well, the shopping for fabric and the right amount was the nightmare.  I really wanted to used crushed velvet, not satin, but we won't go into that.  I'm scarred for life, I think.  Miraculously, I didn't have any real problems making the dress; it's just a lot of long seams with slippery material.  By the time I did the hem (it took nearly 30 minutes to sew around that hem!), I didn't have the stamina for handsewing the details.  Maybe I'll get to it before she wears it again.  And she will wear it again because it's plenty long and loose enough!

Fr. Jay Finelli said on his blog exactly what I've been saying for the past week.  The Church, and when I say "the Church" I mean especially the American bishops and priests, has slacked off on teaching the hard truth.  The universal Catholic Church has never changed her teachings, but they have been watered down immensely in the past 50 years.

The Church has never changed, never wavered in Her teachings.  But we have wavered.  And now everything is collapsing around us.  This is just the first step in taking away religious liberty for everyone in this country.  If Catholics, and our Protestant brothers and sisters, don't stand up now, we'll all pay the consequences.

  1. Meg looks darling. I guess her tummy held its own? I know what you mean about being so done with something.

    Thanks for the link. Great article. Sadly, we the lay didn't ask for weak-kneed clergy. We all pay.
