Lazy Friday Quick Takes

---1---

I'm going to write a blog post because I'm too lazy to get up from the computer to go knit on the sofa!  I've been here all morning---since I got home from carpool---alternating between reading blogs and compiling news for the school newsletter.  I'm done with that for now, and just can't get up.

---2---

I'm not the only one with that problem, I guess.  She dragged herself out of bed the 2nd time I woke her up, and did her schoolwork, but she can't seem to make any further progress.

---3---

This is where I was between 4 and 5 a.m. today.  I just love this adoration chapel and the crucifix, so much so that I had to snap a picture with my phone.  I was afraid the shutter would click, but it didn't with the phone on silent.  However, it's a bad picture, so I may have to try again.  I enjoy just sitting and gazing at this crucifix---sometimes that's easier than trying to pray words because my mind wanders very quickly when I'm tired!  Though, honestly, sometimes I do find myself wondering why Jesus has a red velvet-lined pie plate behind Him!

---4---

Here are my 3 fabulous skeins of yarn that I won.  I finally decided to knit a Color Affection.  It's going to be a lot of knitting on small needles!

---5---

I have a lot of knitting to do, and my elbow hurts.  I don't think it's Knitter's Elbow, because it's on the bottom and hurts when  I rest my forearm on the table, and it doesn't hurt when I knit or do anything else, but I've no idea what it could be.

---6---

Is everyone else craving yummy, creamy, pumpkin-y coffee beverages?  With the onset of cool weather I can only assume that our bodies are encouraging us to get fat for the winter scarcity.  As if.

---7---

My brain is very tired today from lack of sleep, so it's hard to come up with 7 takes!  There is also something weighing heavily on my heart which I could use some prayers for.  I'd appreciate it!

Is it too late for Quick Takes?

Whether it's too late, or not, here they are!

---1---

I was busy yesterday morning shopping for 8 girls going camping.  For the first time, ever, I'm not taking Meg to the AHG family camping trip!  I sent her, staying home to see my high school senior in his last, and first, performing arts festival.

---2---

Pip is canoeing with his scout troop.  Or kayaking, but whatever.  There might be 'gators.  They were supposed to go to the Okefenokee Swamp, but it's closed thanks to the government shutdown.

---3---

It's very quiet here, which is lovely after a very long week.  Just hanging out with my love.

---4---

Remember I told you about the Shop Hop?  I was totally thrilled to find out that I won the prize from one of the shops.    Last night, I was having so much fun winding my 3 skeins of yarn into balls (well, sort of, because there were lots and lots of tangles).  It's gorgeous, and the 3 colors are absolutely not me, but I do have a plan for them because they ARE perfect for someone else!

And if you clicked that last link, it's my BKF (best knitting friend) who won the grand prize!  I'm so excited for her!

---5---

My oldest son was here for the week while the floors at his apartment were refinished.  We had a little time to visit between carpools, and we went to see Gravity together.  IMAX 3D, folks.  That's the way to see it, if you can.  It was great---very intense and emotional.  A lot to think about.

---6---

My house is a mess, and I'm so not interested in cleaning it, today.  Yesterday was mind-numbing, and behind-numbing, in terms of time in the car.  I just want to mellow out and enjoy my weekend.  Tuesday, when the kids are at school, I can overhaul it.  Or at least start.

---7---

And play with yarn.  Tell me what you're doing this weekend!

round button chicken
~Also linking up with Ginny's Yarn Along if you want to see what others are knitting and reading!~

{pretty}
One of the few perks of getting out on the road before dawn is that you get to see some awesome sunrises while sitting at traffic lights!  This was a particularly pretty morning.  Don't you love the 'caption' at the bottom of the photo----"WE BUY GOLD"?

This yarn is also pretty---more than pretty; it's stunning.  I love the colors, but I'm kind of regretting the pattern I chose.  I like the pattern, but not with the yarn which is merino and silk.  It's super-soft and silky, and it has a sheen (can you see it in the ball?) that is totally lost with the garter stitch.  Kind of sad about that, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to rip it out and start again.

Last week I was reading Divergent, and pretty much immediately ordered the 2nd book in the trilogy, Insurgent.  I read this one in less than 24 hours.  Another YA post-apocalyptic distopian society, but I found it intriguing that one would organize a society based on virtues.  I'm glad that the 3rd book comes out this month, so I don't have to wait a year to find out how it ends!

{happy}
She finished her first big research paper with accompanying display without pulling an all-nighter!  Kudos to her awesome teacher for spreading out the work and giving them a good lesson in doing a big project like this.
{funny}
Haha!  Self-explanatory.  But the next one is not:
We were at a cross-country meet east of Atlanta, and there were giant bird tracks next to hoof prints.  I should have put a coin on the ground so you could see the size of these.  They were not quite as big as my hand, but larger than any I've seen before.   I could just imagine an unsuspecting rider enjoying the morning with pterodactyls silently following behind!
Maybe they belong to a crane or a blue heron, but we weren't near water, so I didn't expect to see such large tracks in a field.  What do you think?
{real}
It may not look like much to you, but a neat garage that we can walk through, and makes room for dh to park his car, is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
At least until it gets messed up again!
